Relleu

Penelope Shuttle

Your mountains,
your rain mists
white as almond flowers,

your ravines
black as the branches
of the almond tree.

Orange trees of Relleu,
lemon trees,
your sweet February harvest.

Here long before the olives -
dawn breaks over your terrace orchards,
your clustered boughs.

Mountains stand around you in awe.
