Self Censorship

Poet
now that you can say whatever you want
that nobody is going to incarcerate you
that nobody is going to kill you
what are you waiting for?
or maybe you have nothing
left to say
why are you escaping
within meaningless metaphors
of superfluous images?
why do you get lost
in the words
and lose the meaning?
Who is censoring you?
are you censoring yourself
to get a prize
to be seen on T.V.
to be honored
so you can be forgotten.

Moshe Benarroch
