On the Edge

Ginny lives on whiskey and wheat germ,
tortilla soup and cream cheese. Years
are illustrated as bright pennants,
with men's names, hanging from the ceiling
of her memory.

Ginny is beautiful. She lives by
the Guadalupe River on the edge,
unsafe. She sings and plays the guitar.
She places wildflowers
in a turquoise vase.
