Other months' editorials are accessible via the site map:

But I'm typing this at 10pm with the windows wide open and I can hear the children playing in the square at the end of the street, so it looks as if we still have a little summer ahead of us.

Wherever you are reading this - and I know we have visitors from all over the globe - I wish you well with your writing. Let me know how it's going, and what we can add to the Patchword pages to help.

Oops! I almost forgot: there's a new animated poem on site. And more to come...

Well, October's here already, and almost caught me unprepared. But here we are with the new edition of Patchword and hoping there's someone out there reading this!

In fact I know you're out there as I've been checking the statistics, and see that there's a steady number of visitors, even if most of you are too shy to make yourselves known. Some of you have sent e-mails, however, and a selection from these can be seen on the postbag page. I look forward to hearing from more of you soon.

A very big thank you goes out to David Hill who was the first to let me have some of his poems to include in the anthology. He's not the only new contributor to Patchword this month, but he deserves a special mention. Perhaps more of you will begin to submit work now you can see that you won't be alone.

Don't forget that we aren't only looking for poetry: we want articles about any aspect of the writing business, as well as book recommendations and recipes. And do remember that we accept reprints, so if you have already had something accepted for publication we are still willing to consider it for the site. Have a look at the guidelines page for full details of what we'd like you to send us.

Here in Madrid, there are definite signs of Autumn. We even had some rain this week - the first I'd seen in months.
