Other months' editorials are accessible via the site map:

Most of these include on-line links for more information, as Patchword doesn't aspire to be a comprehensive reference work.

There's plenty of variety to be found on these pages, so I hope you find something that appeals to you. Do let me know what you like and what you don't - this is your chance to be a founding influence on Patchword!!

Welcome to the first edition of Patchword.

Some of you will have seen the pre-launch edition, but since then we've been busy collecting, collating, researching, writing, typing, correcting, etc. so you'll find a lot of new stuff on the site.

That doesn't mean we don't need your help: Patchword depends on you. So come on and send us a mail telling us what you think, and what you want. (And don't forget to tell your friends about us.)

Have a look at the guidelines page for details of what we'd like you to send us. Remember that we don't just want articles and poetry: we've sections for book recommendations and recipes, too, which may be a place to begin if you aren't very confident about your literary ability.

As I said, we've added a lot more pages - particularly to the anthology section. I had such fun choosing the classic poems and decided to type them in myself - so any typos are my fault! It was a lovely way of renewing acquaintance with old favourites, and I thoroughly recommend you have a read yourselves. So often we think that we know a poem but re-reading can show us things we hadn't noticed before.

I think we learned a lot, too, from putting together the biographies for the poets.
