Hello and welcome to the September 2001 edition of Patchword.

I must start with an apology to any of you who have sent messages or submissions and have had to wait for replies. I do try and deal with the mail as quickly as possible, but I have been very busy this last month or more with other commitments, I'm afraid. Thank you for bearing with me.

Mind you, I think that some of you must have been on holiday as my inbox seems to have been emptier than usual. I hope that if you have been away you've come back refreshed and inspired.

The new version of the site is still in preparation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be ready for October, but have learned that it's wise to make no promises!

Remember that we're going to add a section for non-fiction and essays, as well as writing for children which will include book reviews, poetry, excerpts etc for younger readers. So if you have any material that may be suitable, please send it to me at editor@patchword.com.

All our usual sections (articles about writing, poetry, humour and book recommendations) will continue to appear, and there will still be a time out section with quizzes and other fun stuff, too, although there will be a slight reorganisation.
