Physical Properties:
- surface usually covered in film of paint
- boils at nothing; freezes without known reason
- melts if given special treatment
- yields if pressure applied in the right places
- bitter if incorrectly used
- found in various states, from virgin to common ore

Chemical Properties:
- has a great affinity for gold, silver and a comprehensive selection of precious stones
- easily absorbs great quantities of expensive substances
- may explode spontaneously without warning
- dissolves on saturation with alcohol

Common Uses:
- highly ornamental
- portable when necessary
- can be a great aid to relaxation
- very effective cleaning agent

Tests:
- Pure specimen turns rosy pink if discovered in the natural state
- goes green when placed beside a better specimen

Hazards:
- highly dangerous, except in experienced hands
- illegal to possess more than one, although several can be maintained at different locations, so long as specimens do not come into contact with each other
